As we gear up for the holiday season, I thought it would be helpful to share some gift ideas that have been big hits in our home and have lasted as favorites for our kids for more than a season.
But before we get to that, I started a new system for gift planning this year that has been SO helpful in organizing ideas for each of our kids, and in preventing me from impulse buying. Maybe this is nothing new and I’m just late to the game on this system of planning, but I started using a spreadsheet this year to map out our gift-giving ideas for each of our kids. And I have LOVED it!
I have a column for Ryan, Natalie and Emily and categorized rows like “big box, clothing, books, action figures/dolls, learning activities, grand finale gift, stocking, etc.” Then in each column, I put the links for each item.
Our plan is to have this list completed by Thanksgiving to take advantage of the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales. And then we’ll still do our usual TJ Maxx run with the kids to let them pick out gifts for each other and add a few smaller things for each of them from there.
Now let’s get to our favorites! I have a separate list I’ll share tomorrow specific to Melissa & Doug toys, because, let’s be honest, Melissa & Doug toys deserve their own list. They’re just so good. So stay tuned for that tomorrow.
