My sis and I had the best time celebrating our mam

My sis and I had the best time celebrating our mama’s 75th birthday this weekend! (Can you believe it?! We only hope we look and act like her when we’re 75!)

We shopped, ate, played scrabble 🤓, got a surprise visit from my nephew and his girlfriend, baked bread, and enjoyed all the extra time together. It was such a sweet weekend of celebration. We are so grateful to have a mama and Nonna like her! 🤍

Always a highlight 🥰

At the beginning of the year, Matt and I carve out dates with each of our kids. Some are one-on-one, some are Matt with both girls and me with both boys, and then this year, we’ve planned out 4 dates with both of us and just one kiddo. We shoot for doing something every quarter, but it’s less about the exact timing/spread of dates, and more about setting aside time to be intentional with each of them.

Time flies by faster than we’d like sometimes, but getting these nights on the calendar helps us to pause and appreciate the season of parenting we’re living in right now!

What a trip! ⛷️ We loved Deer Valley so much when we skied it as a fam last year that we came back this year with friends! The sweetest part of this trip was seeing Andrew and his buddy (the youngest 2 kiddos of the group) learn how to ski. They were SO proud! ☺️ One of my favorite memories was seeing E take on the big sis role of leading Andrew down the mountain and coaching him along the way: “Remember your big C-turns Andrew!” “Good job Andrew!” 🥰

Reasons why we love Deer Valley:
- It’s a ski mountain only (no snowboarders)
- Complimentary overnight ski and boot storage
- First lift, ski school, and bunny slopes are all conveniently located right at the front of the resort (no village area to walk through)
- There are TONS of wide open green runs all over the mountain
- The staff is so helpful and friendly
- Their ski school is fantastic and offers a variety of options
- The cafeteria food is delicious! (They’re known for their turkey chili but our other fam faves are their Gorgonzola Mac and cheese, Mongolian beef rice bowl, and sourdough grilled cheese)
- They offer a family value package where one kid skis free per paying adult + you receive 20% off rentals and accommodations. This also includes a complimentary shuttle that takes you to and from the resort or anywhere within a 5-mile radius (which is a surprisingly large number of places)

We love it so much we’re going back in a couple of weeks! 🙈😂 If you have any questions about skiing with kids, feel free to ask them below!

Natalie’s face in the stroller says it all 🤷🏻‍♀️😂 But we did it and had a blast on that trip… Matt and I almost going blind and all 🤪😅 …going to find that trip highlight now and reshare it in stories. It’s easily the craziest experience that’s ever happened to us traveling as a fam!

(Update: I’m so bummed- did yall know highlights get deleted if they’re not updated over a long period of time?! We still have pictures and videos from the trip of course, but I’m sad to know that those captioned family memories aren’t accessible anymore! If anyone knows something that Google doesn’t about how to get them back, I’d love for you to share!)

(Updated update: So there’s this thing called archives that you can pull up and recreate highlights if you choose or just save to your phone if you want certain family memories saved with captions. Come to me if you want to know any more tips on how to be an instagrammer 😂🙈)

Rosie girl has been making her rounds to each of our kiddos’ classes meeting all the students and spreading all the puppy love! She has been such a sweet addition to our family. ☺️ I will be honest though, we still miss Tally so much! Doing all of these things with Rosie that we once did with Tal is bitter sweet. It’s been a really good experience for our family to talk through feelings with our kids as they come up and view our own mixed emotion days through the lens of being empathetic toward others who are experiencing their own versions of sadness or change. I remind myself that the more opportunities we have to walk through various emotions and life experiences (good and hard) with our kids when they’re young and under our wings, the more they’ll be ready to work through their own ups and downs as adults. It’s a beautiful opportunity to shepherd them through all of life’s phases. 🤍
