When I asked on Instagram what other gift ideas I could help with, this category was far and away the most requested!
I still remember when Ryan, our first, was 5 months old for his first Christmas. When people asked, we told them we weren’t really planning on getting him anything for Christmas, and oh my word the LOOKS! As new parents, we quickly learned that not getting your baby anything for Christmas was clearly not proper parenting. hah!
So more out of wanting to say something when people asked, I landed on a little plan for our babe’s first Christmas. And the plan was to get him:
Something he’d want
Something he’d need
Something he’d wear and
Something he’d read
Four sweet and simple gifts that would be used and enjoyed. So today, I’m going to share a few gift ideas for each of these categories to help you too ensure that you are a good parent on your baby’s first Christmas. 😉
The WANT Category
From left to right:
The NogginStik (found here) + extra batteries
Baby Einstein Take Along Tunes (found here)
Sassy Wonder Wheel (found here)
These have all been favorites with all four of our kids!
The NEED Category
Christmas could be a good time to purchase a bigger-ticket future need item for your little one, like a convertible carseat or a high chair, or something that could occupy him/her for longer car rides. Here are our favorites for each of these categories:
Graco 4Ever DLX 4-in-1 Convertible Car Seat (found here)
Fisher-Price SpaceSaver High Chair (found here)
Brica Firefly Baby-In-Sight Mirror (found here)
The WEAR Category
One little outfit or pair of pjs, or a maybe some accessories like a winter hat and gloves, hair bows, bow ties, first pair of walking shoes… think ahead to what your little one might need in the next few months and maybe even splurge a little. It’s Christmas! 😉
The READ Category
We have so many favorites, but these 4 are at the top of the list!
On The Night You Were Born (found here)
Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? (found here)
Buzz, Buzz, Baby! (found here)
Dear Zoo (found here)
Other Ideas
One last gift idea is purchasing a membership to the zoo, children’s museum, aquarium, or paying the registration fee for a music class.
In reality, I did really love having a few gifts for Ryan to open that first year. It got me so excited for Christmases to come and made the morning feel extra special, even if he didn’t really know what we were celebrating. 🙂
