What a week we had in Guatemala! Our family of 6 spent the week with Healing Waters International, an organization on a mission to end the global water crisis.
We also had the opportunity to spend the week with two incredible families, the Gee’s and the Moody’s, as we all visited various project sites alongside the Healing Waters’ staff.
During our time there, we were able to visit with community members directly impacted by the installation of the water purification systems and learn more about how their lives and communities were changed by gaining access to clean water.
Seeing the people in these communities and hearing their stories made us feel so thankful for how readily available clean water is where we live, and also made us realize how easily we take it for granted.
We were thankful for the opportunity to see first-hand the work that Healing Waters is doing to end the global water crisis. And we were also thankful to show our kids a different part of the world, allow them to experience a different culture, and help them understand that not all people live the same way.
It is so important to us that our kids grow up believing that they can make a difference in the lives of other people, and that one of the best parts about making money is being able to give it away.
Even though they are still so young, we hope to set a precedent of giving back both with our time and our money, so that as they grow, service becomes a natural part of how they live.
We are so thankful to the Healing Waters staff for allowing us to experience the incredible work that they are doing and to the Gee Family and Moody Family for making our trip so memorable. We feel like we made life-long friends and hope to be able to travel together again!
If you would like to donate to our campaign to fund a second water project in Guatemala, you can do so here. And to those of you who have already given, THANK YOU! This act of giving back as a community is one of the biggest reasons why we started this blog in the first place. And seeing the support from people we know and don’t know really means so much. So thank you!!
