We have been counting down to this day! We are so excited to share that we will be partnering with Healing Waters for the next 10 months to help end the global water crisis. But the best part is we are giving the Making Home Here community (that’s you!) an opportunity to join us and greater the impact and numbers of lives changed forever.
Why We Chose to Partner with Healing Waters:
Last year, we learned about the FLTR movement through one of our favorite traveling families, the Gee family, better known as The Bucket List Family.
On Instagram, @thebucketlistfamily shared on opportunity for families to get involved and be a part of ending the global water crisis by donating to the FLTR movement, a campaign orchestrated by Healing Waters. After learning more about Healing Waters and their mission to end the global water crisis, Matt and I knew we wanted our family to be a part of what they were doing.
How We Plan to Serve:
Matt and I have talked often about how we want to go on mission trips as a family when our kids are older, but after talking with the incredible people at Healing Waters, we realized this was something we could do NOW.
So through many phone conversations, emails, and a visit in our home with the super sweet Kayla Huff, we have planned a trip for 2019 in which we’ll travel with The Bucketlist Family and fund a water project in a village that currently has no access to clean drinking water.
What YOU Can Do:
We knew you would ask this. 😉 So we’ve set up our own campaign through Healing Waters to fund an additional water project that will be donated from the Making Home Here community. When we travel with The Bucket List Family next year, we want to show you all what your money accomplished in the lives of every single villager we meet. Clean water changes lives and entire communities, and your donations will make this happen.
We’re asking for the Making Home Here community to consider being a part of the #25for25 campaign. When you commit to giving $25 a month for one year, you provide clean water for 25 people. That means one person or family here can change the lives of 25 people there.
If 57 people commit to this $25 a month donation for one year, the Making Home Here community will be able to fully fund an additional water project.
You can also make a one time donation to help us reach our goal. Every dollar makes a difference, and no amount is too small.
Once you are ready to give, you can set up a recurring gift of $25 a month or make a one time donation through our campaign page.
More about Healing Waters:
Healing Waters has been in existence for 16 years and has distributed over a billion liters of safe water, serving 194,000 people on a daily basis at 313 sites around the world.
They have developed a holistic WASH model that provides Water Purification Systems, Health & Hygiene Education, and Water Business and Admin Training to the communities they serve to ensure sustainability of their systems over time.
They love Jesus and have answered his call to serve the poor and the suffering, and to bring transformation where there is sickness, brokenness, and division.
Their mission is clear:
“We’re on a mission to end the global water crisis. We build holistic clean water solutions and spread God’s love in at-risk communities around the world, empowering people not just to survive, but to thrive – physically, socially and spiritually.” -Healing Waters International
Clean Water Facts:
Over 1.8 billion people do not have access to clean water, and every :90 seconds, someone dies from a water-related disease.
1/3 of all the schools in the world lack access to safe water and sanitation.
In low and middle-income countries, 1/3 of all healthcare facilities lack a safe water source.
In Africa and Asia, women and children walk an average of 3.7 miles a day to collect water for their families that is unclean.
Reductions in time spent collecting water have been found to increase school attendance.
Half of the world’s hospital beds are filled with people suffering from water-related disease.
Nearly 1 out of every 5 deaths under the age of 5 worldwide is due to a water-related disease.
While this statistic alongside these facts is sobering, it stirs us to want to do more. We’ve been given so much and have the resources to do more with what we’ve been given.
Will you join us this year in ending the global water crisis? What can we sacrifice for $25 a month here to make a lasting impact there? Let’s a be a part of changing lives forever, friends.
