We are SO excited to finally share these pictures with you! Before we jump in to the pictures and links, let me give a quick backdrop for why we started this project in the first place.
This past summer (yes, this process started 7 months ago), we noticed a water bubble on the ceiling of our playroom bathroom that had black spots around it. We hired a company called Mold Boss to come out and test for mold and mitigate any water damage that occurred. Their initial visit uncovered black mold and a water leak that began in our master bathroom shower and leaked through to the two floors below- “inspiring” a three story bathroom renovation.
Mold Boss was excellent. They were very thorough, documenting everything so that we could get as much money as possible from our insurance claim. I highly recommend calling Carlos, the owner, for your mold and water mitigation needs. And tell him we sent you! 678-532-5180
Mold Boss’s contractors were able to fix everything for the basement bathroom, so the next step was hiring a contractor to completely renovate the playroom bathroom on our main level and our master bathroom upstairs.
I interviewed 7 contractors and landed on Keystone Remodeling as the right company for the job. From the first meeting I had with Mark Walser, the owner, I knew they were the company for us. Their quote itemized everything in detail (down to providing an allowance for towel bars and bathroom hardware), which made us feel more confident about what the all-in cost would be. **Side note for anyone planning a renovation, everything costs more than you think it does, so assume the end cost will be at least 10% higher!**
Knowing that this renovation would be happening in the middle of me homeschooling our three oldest kids while keeping our baby safe and entertained, hiring a designer to help with all of the decisions felt like a very wise use of our time and money.
I interviewed two different designers who were recommended to us, and again knew from the first visit with Martha Heid that she was the right person to help us. Martha has been worth her weight in GOLD. Since finishing this bathroom project, she has helped us carry this renovation inspiration to various rooms around the house. I am so thankful we have her and now cannot imagine making house decisions without her!
We worked with Justin Buddin and Heather Weinstein at Ferguson in Alpharetta to order all of the bathroom accessories. They price matched for me and were very responsive and helpful.
Okay, now to the pictures!
Master bathroom BEFORE:
The original bathroom was very dark. There was a lot of heavy wood accents and the shower was completely enclosed, as it was set up as a steam shower. Our goal was to remove the wood framing above the bath tub and vanity, replace the built in tub with a free standing tub, take out the vaulted ceiling, and add lights and white tile to make the space feel more open and bright.
