Post 3/3 from one of our favorite days in Switzerland!

We ended our day at Harder Kulm Restaurant, known as the “Top of Interlaken.”

After a quick funicular ride up the mountain, we had dinner overlooking two lakes, the town of Interlaken, and the famous Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau peaks. The views were unreal, and the food was delicious!

Matt and I split the Chicken Cordon Bleu (highly recommend!), and the kids got Swiss mac & cheese, a burger, and chicken tenders. It was a hit for all of us!

We recommend sitting at a table overlooking the view (arrive early or be prepared to wait for one to open up). Also, be sure to arrive back at the funicular station at least 15 minutes before departure to ensure you get on. We just missed the first ride down and had to wait 30 minutes for the next one. But honestly, with views like these, waiting was a pleasure!

One thing to note: the ride up to Harder Kulm was not included with our Berner Oberland Pass, but the pass did give us 50% off the ticket price. We purchased the 10-day Berner Oberland Pass for all six of us, and it covered almost every train, bus, and mountain lift we used throughout our trip, while also providing discounts on many of the attractions that weren’t fully included.

Post 2/3 from one of our most memorable days in Switzerland!

After riding Trottibikes in Sulwald (see my last post if you missed it!), we headed to Interlaken for a chocolate-making class at @funkychocolateclub 🍫

Fun fact: Matt doesn’t even like chocolate (I know…I’ll give you a second to process that 🤯), but he loved this class—and so did the rest of us!

There’s something really special about learning something new together as a family. 🥰 We learned about the history of chocolate, sampled different varieties, and each created three chocolate bars to take home.

The best part? The ingredients were clean and dye-free, so the kids were thrilled to design their own creations with all the toppings and decorations they wanted!

💰 Cost: • Adults: 75 CHF • Kids (ages 4–12): 65 CHF

One thing to know before booking: the class lasts about an hour, but the chocolate bars need roughly 1.5 hours to harden afterward. We booked the 4:00 PM class and picked up our chocolate before closing at 9:00 PM.

If possible, I’d recommend scheduling a midday class so you can enjoy Interlaken while you wait.

Post 1/3 from one of our favorite family days in Switzerland 🇨🇭

If you’re planning a trip with kids, this day was packed with three unforgettable adventures that were all huge hits with our family. To make it easy to save for later, I’m breaking the day into 3 separate posts so you can easily recreate each stop on your own trip.

First up…

Thanks to a recommendation from @we_threekings on our very first Switzerland post, we started this incredible day with Trottibikes in Sulwald!

Our adventure started with a bus ride from Lauterbrunnen to Isenfluh, followed by the tiniest cable car we’ve ever seen (it holds 6 people… or 1 cow 😂) up to Sulwald.

From there, we hopped on trottibikes and coasted down through the Swiss Alps with incredible views around every turn.

The craziest part? We didn’t pass a single other person the entire way down!

If you’re deciding between Trottibikes here or in Grindelwald, I’d choose Sulwald every time. It felt like we had this hidden corner of Switzerland all to ourselves.

We also highly recommend eating lunch at Suls-Lobhornhütte at the top of the cable car before riding down. Matt and I ordered Swiss dumplings over a salad and oh.my.word I am still thinking about this meal. I had low expectations (I’ve never eaten a dumpling in my life) and now wish I photographed the meal before we devoured it 😂) The kids got mini dumplings and hot dogs served in freshly made baguettes. And the view of the mountains during the meal was 🙌🏼

ALSO, we learned after we finished that they have mini Trottibikes that would have been wonderful for 2 of our kiddos, so be sure to ask for those if you have kids under 52in!

Happy birthday, Emily!!! We got home yesterday in time to celebrate our E girl at home! NINE amazing years with this sweet girl. 🥹 She keeps us laughing, asks the best questions, and always tells us exactly what she’s thinking. She is a GIFT, and we are so thankful she’s ours!

Lake Oeschinensee was absolutely dreamy!! This was a FULL day but absolutely worth it!

Mürren ➡️ Lauterbrunnen ➡️ Interlaken Ost ➡️ Kandersteg ➡️ gondola ➡️ Oeschinensee

The mountain coaster is at the top of the gondola. This is where we started! It is 6CHF pp. We arrived around 11:30 am and waited roughly 5 minutes to ride.

After riding, we followed the marked trails down toward Oeschinensee and started the ascent up the mountain for incredible views of the lake. The entire hike is 7-8 hours. We chose to make the little snack shop that is surrounded by cows our highest point, making our hike around 2.5 hours total with stops along the way to explore the waterfalls, visit the cows, and take in the views. FYI the snack shop only accept Swiss francs, CHF- no CC! It is also a steep ascent to get to the actual shop, so you could always skip this part and stop at the cows.

On the way back down, we dipped our feet in the lake!

Then we made our way back to the gondola and ate at the little restaurant there. (They do accept CC!) Their vanilla ice cream cups were the best vanilla ice cream we’ve ever tasted!

I know this day will be one that we will remember forever! 🥹
