In an unexpected turn of events, Matt and I ended

In an unexpected turn of events, Matt and I ended up solo on what was supposed to be a weekend work trip with his colleagues. So we decided to bring Rosie along too and let her experience the beach for the first time!

Things to do on Daufuskie:
- rent a golf cart (the island is car free!)
- ride bikes

Grateful for these days away at the beach with each other and with family! Truth be told, we were supposed to spend this week in Italy, but when Ryan broke his leg, we decided to postpone that trip for now. And honestly, when we told the kids we’d be spending the week at the beach with cousins instead, their pure JOY and excitement made us wonder whether Italy ever should have been the plan 🤣 Who else has kids who would rather be with grandparents and cousins than anywhere else?!

These past few weeks have made us extra thankful—for our people, for perspective, and most of all for Jesus.

He is risen… and that changes everything ✝️ Happy Easter from our crew to yours!

If you had asked me a week ago, I would have told

If you had asked me a week ago, I would have told you that Matt and I would be spending this weekend in Turks & Caicos with our small group celebrating our dear friend’s 40th birthday and most likely sipping fun beachy beverages and taking pictures like the one above. But then some crazy things happened…

On Monday, I started having dizzy spells that lasted through the night and into Tuesday, so on Tuesday afternoon, we ended up going to the ER. My eyes were jumping all over the place so they did a couple of CT scans and MRIs on my head and neck to rule out anything major. As I think most mamas do, I had gone to some pretty dark places in my mind as we were waiting on answers, so I was relieved to hear that all of the scans were clear.

They ended up saying it was likely viral vertigo (Ryan had spiked a fever last Thursday and I had basically spent 24/7 with him as we were navigating pain management and maneuvering and sleeping with the cast).

I have never experienced anything quite like vertigo, and it has basically taken me out of commission this whole week.

I got my third round of the Epley maneuver on Friday, which is supposed to help reset the brain and inner ear, as well as a red light therapy protocol specifically for vertigo.

For a family who rarely goes to the doctor or even takes OTC medicine, 2 ER visits in less than 2 weeks is really something 🤪😆. We are so grateful for modern medicine and doctors who are there when we need them, and for friends and family who step in to support when we’re not able to operate at 100%.

I’m hoping I’ll be back to driving kids to school and practices next week, but in the meantime, I’m reminded of how great the gift of feeling healthy and being able to be a mama to our kids is. I don’t want to take for granted what can sometimes feel mundane.

I’m curious if anyone else has experienced vertigo and if you found anything to be the magic thing that got you up and running again?!

Flying Bananas 4 LYFE! 🍌😉 Also, this is Matt all the time actually- not just on vacation. He is a walking party- always ready with a game or chant 🥳

This was our shuttle ride out on the first day before Ryan broke two bones in his left leg 🥹

The good news is, he’s going to be back to 100% before we know it and we’ll get to make memories like this again on future trips. We’re focusing on the positive and are just so grateful he’s okay!

⭐️ Watching Ryan rise to the challenge of using crutches and missing out on skiing/hot tubbing with such a positive attitude
⭐️ Watching the other kids be so supportive and encouraging toward Ryan and each other
⭐️ Double date nights in with @kembleteague and @ashleyhteague
⭐️ Getting to hang with @sarahctravels and @mattjcarson at Champion Club at @steinlodge
⭐️ Walking through new experiences with Matt and learning together (this is the first broken bone(s) for our family and Lord willing the last)

Certainly not the trip we planned but we are grateful nonetheless for the memories made! 💛
